Quick post for obvious reasons

25 December, 2009 at 12:53 am (Other)

Right, yeah I know I said I’d be more active and I didn’t post anything yesterday – but I was a bit busy. Well anyway, enough of that, I’m posting to say Merry Christmas to those that care for it. And anyone that follows something different, uhh… happy holidays? I guess. I don’t really know much else, but yeah it’s the thought that counts! Right? Right?!

Well, whatever happens, have a good one. And for those that it is yet to become Christmas for, might I recommend going into Christmas by watching the Gremlins? Awesome movie and definitely worth your time. I personally saw Christmas while watching it since ITV2 were broadcasting it at ten past ten.

Well anyway, enjoy.

How annoying

23 December, 2009 at 8:43 pm (Other)

For some reason my computer was constantly freezing, resulting in a forced shut down. I tried to find the problem, but never did. AVG never picked up on any viruses, and Ad-Aware never found any spyware either. Regardless, I’ve formatted the computer and started again.

This explains why I haven’t posted anything lately. Sorry about that. Just when I start going on about being back – I’m gone!

Miniature post for what happened today, since nothing’s happened today. Had to give the house an absolute clearing because of Christmas being on it’s way. My room is now cleaner than it’s ever been, I’m so shocked and chuffed with myself. Shame it’s gonna be a ruin come Friday and after.

I couldn’t help but notice a pain on my under arm, so I had a look. (For all the ladies, squeeing moment for you. I had to take off my top to see it in the mirror). Seems it’s swollen, and by a fair bit. It’s almost solid, it’s pinkish red, it’s definitely not a spot (hahahaha, no, not this), and looks like a third nipple. It’s pretty sensitive too, so whenever I stretch it hurts. Quite a pain in the ass, but that’s life. Probably irritation or something.

Well, that’s me for today. For New Years, expect an interesting post. I notice that alot of blog posts are missing, so I’m gonna take the time to reflect and clear out alot of those in summed up posts while making a mockery of life as much as possible, so look out for it. I might as well make a post to recap how the hell I got myself a girlfriend too, considering for about three years I couldn’t care less about getting one. I might even drop hints on how to get one if you’re in bad need.

All this and more in next day’s exciting blog posts on “My randomly created ‘cus I felt like it and was bored blog!” I really need a name change.

Just in case.

16 December, 2009 at 11:58 pm (Debates and Rants)

Right, I realise that my last post was written kinda poorly, but looking at the size I can’t really be bothered to edit it so I’ll explain here briefly.

I don’t think you’re stupid for believing in anything like god or heaven. It doesn’t match my logic, but whatever.

What I do think you’re stupid for is following a religion blindly without questioning it and discovering your own take on it, and instead accepting everything said as truth – because it isn’t. Religion is a nice easy way to control the masses, and it evidently isn’t the truth all the time as even the Pope of the Catholic church agrees. They’ve made mistakes in the past too.

However, what the problem was in that brochure. The brochure had given reasonably valid points in describing why god exists and why not all scientists are correct. I say reasonably valid, because most of them I could prove wrong on the spot – but that’s another story. Now, the key argument that was the theme of the entire brochure was basically proving certain people wrong, by saying other people believed in god.

Do you see what’s wrong yet? The whole key point they were relying on was “he’s wrong because this guy says so!” That guy is just as likely to be wrong, you idiot! No seriously, he is! And I can’t take any of the points seriously anymore because of that juvenile argument.

In all honesty, I could have written a better article defending God than those guys did, and I don’t believe in the possibility of God’s existence at all! I saw a possibility for a good argument in what they were saying, the point they could have easily said instead of, “because this other guy says so.” They could have just accepted that point and stated things like the bible isn’t completely fact – which most Christians feel! The argument they could have made out from that isn’t something I personally could have argued with, but no, instead they just insult the reader’s intelligence. So that’s what I was getting at.

Also, the soul thing was a joke. Don’t look too deep into it.

I beat the Uncharted.

16 December, 2009 at 11:54 pm (Debates and Rants)

Uncharted

Uncharted's main protagonist Nathan Drake.

So what went on today? Well a mix between debating with myself why the devil wants souls, despite the fact I don’t believe in him or souls; playing Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and completing it; and planning my Burnout Paradise video review. Yup, it’s officially decided what we’re reviewing first on video.

Well the day started off with me playing the final level of Uncharted, so there wasn’t really much for me to do. After completing it all I can say is that it was an awesome game, I’m really looking forward to playing the second one – whenever I can afford it. Hopefully I can afford it while the collector’s edition one is still around!!!

Although I’m not one for believing in soul and I think the whole “heart and soul” crap sounds stupid as hell, I have to say that Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune contains alot of it, which felt nice considering the other game I was playing – Fallout 3 – which seemed to have lacked it at this stage. That being said, the developers were allowed to let loose their imagination for the DLC, so I’m looking forward to trying more of that…

So yeah – some shameless self plugging coming up – view Spoony Bard Reviews for my actual full review of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, the review due by the end of the week. I’ll post here then, but have a look at my other reviews too!

Right, so what’s this about debating with myself again? Well…

I can’t do it.

15 December, 2009 at 11:38 pm (Debates and Rants)

Yeah, that coursework for databases that I had to rewrite? I can’t do it. I could have easily finished it on Friday but instead I didn’t simply because I already had done a perfect version. I can’t do it anymore!

No seriously, I tried but I can’t concentrate. I know I have a problem with concentrating on boring stuff, but seriously, this is hell. What bothers me is I had it ready on time, and yet now if I do it I probably wouldn’t get a pass for it because it’s too late! It’s my own fault for being careless and not saving every time I write a character, I guess.

So yeah, I’ve tried but I can’t do it anymore. I get it. I’ll just wait until January when I have to sit a second exam and do the coursework again – maybe by that point I’ll feel better or something, I don’t know. But yes, now you know why I have failed to post much lately, because I’ve been trying and failing to do the coursework because I can’t be assed. Awesome.

And for those who don’t get it, the title refers to “I can’t do it,” like if I were to try to play an awful game but can’t handle it or I tried to drink milk. I can easily do the work, it’s just that I don’t want to, which is preventing me from doing it.

Oh god dammit!

11 December, 2009 at 2:49 pm (Debates and Rants)

Seriously, seriously infuriated. Alright, so it was my fault for not pressing Ctrl+S every fifteen minutes, but who the hell thinks about that when they’re on a roll?!

I’m currently in a silent rage. A very bad one. If it weren’t for the fact I managed to restrain myself because I was in university, I would have already smashed the computer monitor in and continued to pummel into it.

That eight hour database coursework? Yeah, I was a paragraph or two away from finishing it. Check the time of this post. You guessed it, almost three hours after I started! I was actually capable of besting the “average student’s time” proving that I am by far above average – by a long shot.

So what actually happened? Well, while I was typing up the last couple of paragraphs after all that hellishly boring and frustratingly easy work the plug of the computer fell out the back. I didn’t expect that one, not at all. The really annoying thing is that as soon as it fell out, it plugged itself back in. Yes, it literally fell out enough to lose power, then connect itself enough to restore power.

I lost all of the word data which contained all of the documentation for the coursework, but fortunately the database data was backed up. That isn’t that big of a deal, you say? Yeah it is, because the database took me half an hour, the documentation took the rest!

Well, I got the deadline extended but now I can’t be assed. At all. I’ll probably do it on Sunday or something. I hate computers, particularly the university’s ones! I can’t wait for the damn upgrade next year!

Oh yeah!

11 December, 2009 at 12:26 pm (Other)

Well I’ve just passed Programming, although I can’t stress my disapointment that I got 7/12 for understanding. Are you kidding me? When I explained the parts of the code like I was supposed to I made a mistake on the constructor. He asked what part is the constructor and I said the part that created the shapes and stuff, but he took it wrong. He assumed I meant the part on the code, when in actuality I was meaning that it referenced the constructor and it was on the other classes. And just for that I lost five marks! That’s unfair!

Regardless, I passed. So at least I’m all good on that aspect. Still, I’d rather have had full marks. Next up is doing the Database coursework. It says the average student finishes it in eight hours, but I’m not an average student so I’ll finish it in three! I’ll post when I do that too, just to show off.

Also, as a side note which William (William Chan from my course) told me – download UN Squadron. This is to me, not to you, but do it too if you want. See you guys later.

MagFest

10 December, 2009 at 5:41 pm (Other)

Reasons to go to Magfest:

  1. Duke Nukem’s voice actor, Jon St. John.
  2. Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Episode 46 (Yes, I enjoy the series).
  3. Good music (from what I can tell).

Reasons not to go to Magfest:

  1. In America.

Kind of unfair. And to vent some frustration, in the past week we’ve had Sabaton, DragonForce and Alestorm gigs. I couldn’t go to any. Life’s so unfair (sniff).

Charlotte’s seventeenth

10 December, 2009 at 5:28 pm (Dates)

Sectioned under dates because I have nothing better for it, even though it wasn’t really a date.

So yeah, 9th December, Charlie’s birthday. Since it’s came and passed I guess I can now spoil the gift I got for her when I was out with Ginger Chris on Friday 4th. I got her a gold necklace with a crystal embedded in it.

Right, so I got into town for university, nothing new. Pretty much the normal day at that point;  in my bag I carried Shaun of the Dead and the birthday gift for the birthday girl. There was one event that made the day slightly different though.
